had a conversation with someone i hadn't talked to in a while. it's weird how things can fall right back in synch. I surprised myself by what i was willing to tell, what ended up being said explicitly and not. On a related note, people's recklessness with other people's emotions and lives is so disheartening. More and more i wonder about relationships and why people seem so invested in them.
oh and i'm broke. like i have $40 to last til the end of october cuz emory messed up my check (it's not just the hbcu's!). so yeah i'm on a serious budget now.

Checks in the mail, mama. In the meantime hit up them talks/roundtables/colloqiums for sustenance and don't be shamed to tote tupperware. I would say drive to Costco and feast on they spreads but as 'spensive gas is these days that help you none.
1) i need your addy. cuz i understand hard times on the boulevard (ask jah about my hungry days at the cheesecake factory. it may inspire laughter, but i promise you, it was not a fun/ny scene).
2) check out free food at the afore mentioned costco and whole foods. i've been known to have a meal or two in hungry times. AND please remind me to tell you about the sneak, secret, mad crazy downlow drrrtydrrrty discount (and completely legal) on boxes and boxes of righteous, good health food. supplies to last you for months and months and months.
i don't tell everyone because you know when negro things become commercialized and popular they suddenly loose their pigmentation and their ability to help those really in need. so there are a few rules you must promise to when i tell you about this incredible secret. i promise you'll be able to eat for months though!
love,
me
you know i'd hook you up with the 20 bones...but i just spent all my stipend for the quarter.
(i just got paid last thursday.)
so... did you get your vacuum back though?
damn. it's hard out here 4 a pimp.... on the emotional negligence, tho it is quite foul, i think both people in a relationship could be at fault. if the recipient doesn't voice their hurt then the accused can claim not to know their crimes. i have learned - slowly and many times over, as it were - that people are not mind readers (well, some are, but not the vast majority)
Oh how I miss the world of academia...
Broke (and many times stressful) days, but so much more fulfilling than this corporate monster I'm currently wrestling with. Not to say that NY rent isn't breaking me too...
Stay up though!
